Clothing Sportwear Accessories Shoes Service

October of 1979, a store named Cunningham-Shields was purchased by Fred Borck.  Borck had expectations of being a business owner upon finishing his term with the Army Reserves, and this clothing store looked like the perfect opportunity.

On October 15th, 1979, Borck re-opened the store as Borck Brothers Menswear.  Located at 220 Humboldt, the store was in a prime location in the heart of downtown Manhattan.

Shortly after opening his store, Borck hired Alan Parker to help steer his business into a prosperous future.  Parker began a long, fruitful career with Borck Brothers Menswear, becoming a partner in the business in March of 1982.

Another valuable addition to the staff at Borck Brothers that same year was Erika Morgan, who joined as an expert tailor to alter garments.  Morgan added a valued service to the growing list of reasons why Borck Brothers was fast-becoming the premier menswear store in Manhattan.

In 1985, Borck and Parker realized the need for more space.  The store at 220 Humboldt had served its purpose well, but was not going to allow them the growth they both expected to achieve.  Consequently, in March of 1986, Borck Brothers moved into Westloop Shopping Center.  This move doubled the store size and allowed for more of the quality clothing Borck Brothers had become known for.

In April of 1997, R.V. Fortner of Topeka, a longtime sales associate for Ray Beer’s, joined forces with Borck and Parker to create F.A.R.V. Custom Clothing.  This corporation is still in operation today and it focuses on custom clothing sales to clients by office or house visit.

August of 2003 marked the addition of ladies’ clothing to the growing menswear collection.  Lady Borck began a steady climb up the list of top ladies’ retailers in the greater Manhattan area.  Still going strong today, Lady Borck apparel offers the most unique in ladies’ fashions and the comfort of traditional favorites.

In June of 2005, Borck and Parker opened their second store, located in Salina, Kansas.  This store is overseen by a veteran in the industry and the Salina area, Gordon Walle.  Walle has helped guide the Salina store into a prosperous direction, following the lead of its Manhattan counterpart.

During this same time, Borck and Parker realized the need for another move. Westloop Shopping Center had been good to Borck Brothers, but it was time to take the business to another level.  In October of 2005, Borck and Parker opened their current location in Seth Child Commons.  Renaming the business Borck Brothers Fine Apparel, the store houses both men’s clothing and ladies’ fashions with the Lady Borck boutique.
